2011 in Review "The summer was filled with awesome memories. Jason and I still talk about how playing for the Torch has changed our lives in so many ways. I am so thankful that there are (ministries) out there such as the Torch that fuse the game of soccer with the love of Christ. When Keri, Jason and I talk about how our game has changed this past season, we always trace back our answers to something we learned this summer. Anyways, thanks again for everything the Torch offered me this summer" (Stephen Russo, Torch Defender).
"We can’t say enough about how being on the Torch is encouraging and exciting Cory about His walk with the Lord and about reaching out to others. Praise God. Thank you for following your call from the Lord – He is using it powerfully in others’ lives” (The Brautigams).
"God has taught me so much this summer. He really did some work on me. An example of how this summer has truly impacted me would be the fact that I am now switching my major from geology to Christian education. I love sport ministry and the experience with the Torch has shown me that" (Keri Shannon, Lady Torch Midfielder).
"The soccer camp has been nothing short of awesome!!! I am beyond grateful to afford these kids the opportunity to work with your staff. The coaches have given 100% from start to finish!!! Thanks again for bringing this to such an underserved community!! God bless" (Tiffany W. Thurman, Executive Director, Action Harvest, Inc., 4001 N. 9th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140).
“My family and I have attended a couple of the Torch Girls games, and I wanted to drop you an e-mail to encourage you to keep it up. You are doing a great job, and I hope that the outreach of the team continues to grow. I have an 8-year-old daughter and I take her to a lot of sporting events, but it is so encouraging to tell her about the Christian side of the Torch. Keep up the good work” (Bob McIntyre, Parent, Perkasie).
"The other day we were sitting in the locker room waiting on a rain delay and one of my teammates pulled out note cards and yelled over to me 'Hey Gab, these (notes of encouragement) are from your team!' Thought you might like to know God is working through them" (Gabrielle Pakhtigian, Lady Torch Goalie).
"I just wanted to tell you what a blessing Kristin and Keri (and all the Torch players/staff we met) were to us this summer! Our entire family fell in love with them! Your ministry is amazing in so many ways. It touches the lives of both those serving and those being served. What a wonderful experience for our family! Our girls have informed us that we will be doing this again" (Jill Schlosser, Host Mom).
"Wouldn't it be awesome....... if we could do this again next summer...... you can count us in. It was an awesome opportunity once again to be a part of a great ministry reaching so many young people...but yeah, it's such a great feeling to be part of this ministry. (this week we get the 'grand prix' biker race guys from France) ....... always room for more at our house" (Jerry and Linda Spencer, Host family).
"(Little Torch Activity Time) is a great Program. All the parents and children really enjoyed it. Not only did the kids learn soccer, they also were taught social skills that enhanced what we at the Kiddie Academy strive to instill into the children" (Allison Dawson, Director of Kiddie Academy of Plumsteadville).
“I just wanted to write a note that on behalf of FC SONIC, I appreciate how your organization handled your business & finished up the season playing passionate, attractive, & most importantly competitive soccer against two of the arguably better teams in the league. Please be sure to pass this message on to the boys and we look forward to seeing you next season” (Dave Weitzman, Head Coach, FC SONIC).
